Notice Regarding the Florida Laws and Rules Examination

Posted in Latest News on June 18, 2015.

Effective August 1, 2015, the Florida Department of Health (DOH) will no longer be sending eligibilities to Prometric for applicants who are required to sit for the Florida Board of Optometry Laws and Rules Examination. Beginning August 1, 2015, applicants will need to contact the National Board of Examiners in Optometry (NBEO) to schedule a time to sit for the Laws and Rules Examination. Any applicants who have registered to sit for the examination prior to August 1, 2015 can still take the examination through Prometric until September 1, 2015; however, failure to sit for the examination before such time will cause the eligibility to expire, and the applicant will need to register through NBEO once they begin accepting registrations. Please consult the chart below for a detailed breakdown of the key deadlines:

July 31, 2015Last day that DOH will send eligibilities to Prometric for the Florida Laws and Rules Examination
August 1, 2015NBEO will begin accepting registrations for the Florida Laws and Rules Examination
September 1, 2015Last day that Prometric will administer the Florida Laws and Rules Examination on behalf of DOH

Any questions or concerns about this change should be directed to Joseph Lesho, Program Operations Administrator of the Florida Board of Optometry, at Joseph.Lesho@flhealth.gov.
