Xiidra Approved; Pending Effective Date

At the August 19, 2016 Board of Optometry meeting, the board voted and approved the use of Xiidra (Lifitegrast ophthalmic solution 5%) for dry eyes. The formulary rule is in the process of being changed to include Lifitegrast ophthalmic solution 5%.

Until the new rule becomes effective, Florida Optometrists are not allowed to prescribe the medication. The board will place a notification on the website advising when the addition to the rule has become effective.
